When you walk in the front door of your house and look around do you feel "at home"?  Does your decor reflect your personality?  Is it really your "happy place"?

Hiring an interior decorator is the fastest and easiest way to make your home a reflection of you.  A designer can ask you some key questions about your tastes, hobbies, lifestyle and unique characteristics, then translate those into an interior that accurately represents you. Sometimes it's as simple as choosing a paint color that harmonizes the space and compliments hard surfaces in the house like floors, cabinets and countertops.  Often adding a few new furniture or art pieces can refresh a space significantly.

Sometimes it's as simple as editing and re-arranging your existing pieces to make your home look clutter-free.

Hands down my favorite way to refesh a space is with updated lighting.  Lighting is like jewellery for your home - it adds sparkle, reflection and polish.  It sets the tone for the interior whether it is modern, contemporary, transitional, eclectic or traditional. Lighting is my passion and I love to add breathtaking fixtures to a space that are often called "Show Stoppers"!

Often we can get so wrapped up in all the holiday events and parties in a season we don't have time to add that special touch to our own home with decorations.  A home decorator can bring in seasonal decor that adds sparkle and polish.  Thanksgiving and Christmas meals just seem to taste better when your home is decorated for the season!

Additionally, a decorator can add unique pieces that help you transition through the seasons!  Winter calls for fur throws and rugs, while summer begs for light and bright pillows and artwork.  A few key furnishings can change the look and feel of your space and are a cost effective way to change with the seasons.  Pillows, artwork and decorative pieces don't have to cost a lot, but certainly have a big visual impact!

Hosting a wedding at your home?  A few extra pieces of rented furniture can create conversation areas for your guests. Something as simple as stunning floral arrangements throughout the house add that extra level of polish and elegance.

Living in Calgary presents the unique opportunity to entertain during Stampede, and modern rustic elements added to your home are an easy way to add that Western feel to any Stampede party you host!

Getting ready to sell your home?  Staging is the most effective way to help a prospective buyer experience the "lifestyle" of living in your house.  Often buyers do not possess the imagination to place their own furniture and artwork in your space, so staging creates vignettes that offer prospective buyers snapshots of the lifestyle they could possess when they buy your home.

Key to good staging is decluttering and a thorough cleaning.  The more personalized a space is, the more difficult it is for a buyer to envision themselves in your space, so a home stager can edit your space to ensure the unique features stand out and are highlighted.  Often I suggest creating a neutral palette that will appeal to a broad spectrum of buyers while accentuating the unique or exquisite features of a home.

Central to good staging is understanding the target market my customer wants to appeal to.  Is your community full of young families or geared to single, urban 20 somethings?  All of this matters in the plan for staging a home.  I stage a home to appeal to the target market for that community.  This is easily achieved by working with your real estate agent to glean market intel, and your agent will be glad to participate in presenting your home in its best light!  Effective December 31st, 2016 I will have access to furniture rental and will be able to expand my staging offering at that time.
