vivid hair design

I was excited to receive a call from Lisa, the owner of Vivid hair design in NW Calgary.  She is a colleague of mine through a personal development group we belong to, and I have always admired her style and warm personality.  She wanted to do a minor refresh on her salon and wanted a big impact without a huge financial investment.

Jointly we decided to freshen the space with a new shade of paint, a feature wall, some new artwork and some spectacular lighting.

The existing grey walls lacked depth and warmth, so I chose a lighter shade of grey in a matte finish.  The existing grey ceiling was changed to white to reflect more light into the space. The feature wall hosts all of the products that are available for purchase, so I chose a spa-inspired chartreuse green to accentuate the turquoise packaging of the product line she offers.

The key to giving this space a spa-like, relaxed feel was new art work.  I sourced very organic and peaceful art pieces inspired by rocks and bamboo.  A stunning abstract waterfall done in acrylics anchors the back of the salon while 2 pieces from the same family draw the eye across the length of one wall of the salon.

We added a chartreuse wall in the bathroom for continuity and a pop of unexpected color.

The two-sided feature wall had different shelving on each side, so we changed it out so that it all matched and provided a clean, undistracted platform to present the products on.

The finishing touch and "jewellery" for the space was the sparkly silver pendants placed throughout the space, their cross hatch pattern inspired by pieces of bamboo.
